When indie dev David Board's PC and mobile game Lifeless Planet came to Kickstarter in late September, its goal was a modest $8,500. The project pitch site found him backers that would more than double that number.

WOW | Cliffy, Carmack, Newell Coo Over Impressive New VR Tech
Source: Kickstarter
And now for something completely different.
Remember VR? Virtual Reality. If you were born in the early 90s, probably not. It was a big thing back in the day. Then again, so were Pogs.
Traditionally resigned to the lonely back corner of your local Dave & Buster's and several mainstream yet pathetic, failed hardware attempts (Virtual Boy, anyone?), Palmer Luckey a "pluckey" young dev from Oculus VR, is now receiving emphatic support from some of the biggest names in the biz.

Kickstarter Endures Crowdfunding Scam
Well, the Internet consensus seems to be: it was only a matter of time. Someone had to go and be that guy - the guy that attempts to swindle online investors via a video game pitch.
Mythic: The Story of Gods and Men (not italicizing it because it's not a real work) has been outed by the Kickstarter community for flagrant plagiarism of artistic assets. Read on for the Mythic "trailer" and comments from Scammy McScammerton himself.

[OMG] Shadowrun Sequel a Kickstarter Success
Guess who's getting the Kickstarter love? Ancient FASA fossil ("FASSIL") Jordan Weisman. Who's Jordan Weisman? Who's Jordan Weisman?! The guy who created high fantasy/cyberpunk romp Shadowrun, that's who.
Shadowrun, the subpar Xbox 360 multi-player shooter from 2007, you say? NO - Shadowrun, the exemplary pen-and-paper RPG from back in the day that was ported triumphantly to 16-bit consoles in the 90s and ported crappily to the Xbox 360 in 2007.
Now, through the crowd-sourced power of Kickstarter, Weisman and his team at Harebrained Schemes are getting another shot at reviving the dark, mystical world of Shadowrun for a new generation.
Their Kickstarter page blew up yesterday, nailing down their $400,000 goal in 28 hours. They'll be using that cash to bring a rightfully single-player Shadowrun to iOS/Android tablets and PCs.
Find out what the world of Shadowrun is all about and watch the HBS Shadowrun Returns pitch video (and subsequent "thank you" video) after the break.

Double Fine's Kickstarter is well on its way to $2M
There's a great Tim Schafer interview over at Giant Bomb. He talks to Patrick Klepek about the now infamous "Double Fine Adventure" Kickstarter page.
Schafer made some happy waves not more than a week ago when a Kickstarter page went up when Tim was at the annual DICE summit at the Red Rock Resort and Casino in Vegas.
Kickstarter, for the un-Internet, is a website where folks can pledge to donate towards a special project - ideas that normally wouldn't see the light of day due to underfunding.
The pitch promised a new Double Fine adventure title, in the vein of the Monkey Island series which endeared Schafer and an era of point-and-click magic to the gaming community. Double Fine hit their goal in a short eight hours.
But the money kept rolling in.
In fact, on launch day, the activity on Double Fine's page crashed Kickstarter's servers. A good sign, methinks.
