WoW: Mists of Pandaria beta sign-up begins

Jack Black brings to life the bombastic Po to life in Dreamworks' anim--er... this is WoW. Sorry.
Fresh off the Diablo 3 beta, Blizzard is rolling out signups for the new, new World of Warcraft expansion: Kung-Fu Panda Mists of Pandaria.

Details and signup links inside.

Since the free-to-play model has been snowballing in popularity in the West (Eastern MMOs have been doing F2P for years), Blizzard has seen a noticeable dip in subscriptions. Pandaria could change all that but Pandaria doesn't appear to change much about Azeroth at all.

The freshest idea was the inclusion of a "pet battle system," which was summarily torn to bits by the gaming community for sounding too much like a certain other pet-battling RPG. Aside from one new race (Pandaren, featured above), one new class (Monk, also featured above), new zones, new beasties and the usual yada yada, the only new piece of content that could generate renewed interest is Challenge Dungeon Mode (which before long will end up being one more thing to slog through for achievement junkies.)

Alas, the gears of progress roll on and Blizzard wants you to playtest the next expansion in the most popular MMO of our generation.

You can opt-in to the Pandaria beta at the Battle.net page - this one isn't under a non-disclosure agreement so screenshot away.

Good news for Annual Pass members: they'll be flying first-class to Pandaria.
"We’re inviting Annual Pass holders in waves over the course of the beta test, and will be ramping up the number of invites we send as quickly as possible. We’ll be inviting Annual Pass holders based on several factors, including how long your World of Warcraft account has been active and when you signed up for the Annual Pass. Keep an eye on your Battle.net account and email for your invite to join the beta test."
If you're one of the lucky passholders, sign up here.

As usual, the beta will end when Blizzard is finished with you and they'll announce the untimely demise of your beta toons at some point in the future - so don't get too attached!
