The face of Activision's thoroughly successful Call of Duty franchise, Creative Strategist Robert Bowling, announced today that he is leaving Infinity Ward and Activision. The resignation came via Twitter.
This is... unexpected to say the least. After his role as community manager for Call of Duty in 2006 and the 2010 West/Zampella fiasco that fractured Infinity Ward, Bowling stayed with Activision to become the unofficial CoD spokesperson. He was Infinity Ward's human identity in the social media sphere.
Currently, Bowling's future plans are not known. Activision released a statement today: "We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service. He's been a
trusted and valued member of the Infinity Ward team. We wish him all the
best on his decision to pursue future opportunities."
No word yet on what prompted Bowling to split.
