[WHOA] The new iPad's battery is 70% larger

2012's slightly-beefier iPad has been expectedly turning heads in the industry - at midnight tonight, it'll start turning wallets.

The most surprising new feature was an even higher-res screen that breaks the 1080p ceiling. Other than that, not much has changed - except for the size of the battery, which, according to Gizmodo, is about 70% larger than the iPad 2's.

Whoa.

The iPad Dos housed a 25-watt-hour Li-ion jobby - the Tres sports a beastly 42.5-watt-hour. Unsurprisingly, the average battery life has not changed - 10 hours of regular use and nine when pulling data from a cell network.

This is a perfect illustration of just how crisp and tasty the new iPad's 2048x1536 display must be. As you can see in the candid shot above of iPad Tres just out of the shower, it's juicing pretty hard.
